Climb aboard an open-air 4x4 Hummer H1 in search of American Bison on this exciting expedition into Catalina’s rugged interior. Catalina’s American Bison, sometimes referred to as buffalo, are descendants of a small herd left on the island by a movie crew in the 1920s. Today the Catalina Island Conservancy maintains Catalina's American Bison herd at about 150 to protect both the Bison and the island’s landscape.

The popular Bison Expedition is a unique experience you’ll only find on Catalina Island. This 2-hour, 4-wheeling adventure offers you an excellent opportunity to see American Bison in the wild as you journey through favorite grazing grounds of these majestic animals, which were named the national mammal of the United States in 2016.

While you keep your eyes peeled for Bison grazing on the hillsides, your guide will share interesting facts about Catalina's history, flora and fauna as you journey through historic Middle Ranch and up rugged Cape Canyon to a scenic overlook on Black Jack Mountain. Then it’s down the original 19th-century stagecoach route, which offers sweeping views of the majestic Catalina coast and beautiful blue Pacific all the way back to Avalon.

Nestled in an idyllic garden setting less than one block from the beach, Avalon’s Golf Gardens is the ideal spot for an afternoon of fun. This unique 18-hole course has been a much-loved fixture on the island for nearly 50 years!

Known in mini-golf circles as one of the world’s most beautiful and challenging courses, Golf Gardens’ classic styling and award-winning layout make for an unforgettable experience that's sure to be a highlight of your stay on Catalina Island. Par is 51, and the official course record is 41. Allow approximately one hour for play.

The perfect activity for daredevils and adrenaline seekers: propel down 5 separate zip lines dropping from 600 feet above sea level — one run is 1,100 lineal feet long all on its own! Travel over 5 consecutive zip lines at heights of 300 feet above the canyon floor at speeds pushing 40 mph.

Kirsten and Tyler's favorite restaurant on the Island! Enjoy super fresh seafood and delicious cocktails in a fun, laidback atmosphere. If you're feeling frisky, try the Gummy Bear Shot-- a favorite since Kirsten and Tyler did them with Uncle Eric and Aunt Tamara in August 2024!

Luau Larry’s is an institution on Catalina Island. Located in the beautiful city of Avalon, just steps from the beach, Luau’s offers views of the harbor in a lively, fun tropical setting. Check out Luau Larry's for some of the local favorite concoctions including Buffalo Milks and Wiki Wackers and listen to some of the Island’s best entertainment! It's a bit of a dive bar, and it can be loud with the live music, but it's a quintessential Catalina experience to stop in at least once!

Bluewater Grill is a must-see favorite in Avalon, located on the historic site of the SS Catalina Ferry dock with stunning waterfront views of the beach, harbor and casino. This would be an excellent place to have lunch or dinner on Friday 12/12, or to go for a final lunch on the island on your departure day, which Kirsten and Tyler have been known to do. Kirsten recommends the crab cakes and the cucumber mojito!

Take to the trees on Catalina Aerial Adventure, a unique and challenging outdoor experience at Descanso Canyon, SoCal’s favorite island entertainment and adventure destination. Catalina Aerial Adventure is just a short stroll from Descanso Beach Club, but you’ll feel like you’re deep in the woods as you climb, swing and crawl through a series of challenging obstacles suspended in a grove of towering eucalyptus.
